katranatHello everyone, welcome to AMV roundup number five!
AMV roundup is where I’m highlighting any new AMVs I’ve come across in the past month, as well as showcasing any older videos I may find that I’d never encountered before.
The videos featured here are mostly AMVs that aren’t already well known in the AMV community spaces I’m familiar with (unless I particularly want to gush about them for some reason). So hopefully a lot of these videos will be new to anyone reading.
A couple things of note - my comments are very paired down this month, I’ve been busy with other things and don’t have much brain left to write this. Also, why’s there so much Evangelion? Also also, what’s with so many people titling their videos with capital letters?

Comments: Every Single Flight is a very lovely video - I adore the way Cendy Warlos has synced to the sounds in the song and the singer's voice/lyrics.

Comments: I really enjoy the way Outsider AMV is structured - the scenes chosen fit the pace of the song, and Ryan Hookway flows through the training montage and into the action sequences perfectly.

Comments: There’s a couple moments of spoken word in the audio here which feel very apt alongside Lain. Indeed Epiphyte meshes these two sources very well. Subterranean is definitely a vibe video.

Comments: I came across chiyuomo via one of the many Azumanga AMVs they’ve created - they are quite a prolific editor, and everything they create is very good (even within the month since I found them they’ve uploaded dozens of videos!). It was difficult to decide on which of their videos to showcase here. I finally picked GOODBYE LULU, PT. 2, because it’s a bit different to their usual creations, plus it’s just a whole lotta fun.

Comments: Yeah, there’s a lot of Evangelion on my list this month, apparently it’s a popular time to edit with it. Though, is it ever not a popular time to edit with Evangelion?
This is Eva with Classical music - a perfect combo for my tastes. Not much else to say, it’s very pretty.

Comments: I feel CLOSE YOUR EYES is an unusual AMV. It’s not often I come across a video where the subject matter is facing your impending mortal peril - as far as super specific multi source AMVs go, this one is up there. The Devil Breaker is on point with the mood here.

Comments: I feel I’m quite fortunate with my YouTube recommendations - I mostly watch AMVs so thankfully I do frequently get blessed by the algorithm on my homepage with videos such as IS IT COLD IN THE WATER.
There are a few editing decisions here which I don’t fully vibe with, but overall this is a really mesmerising watch and it’s awesome to see all the creativity MADLAND AMV has poured into this AMV.

Comments: Ever since I first featured one of their videos back in my 1st AMV Roundup post, I’ve been slowly working my way through Edeets' back catalogue of AMVs. I’ve enjoyed all of their videos, but C O N T R O L blew me away. I cannot overstate enough how much I love this video, I don’t have the words honestly.

Comments: I first saw this video as part of a contest in late 2022, and it was one of my favourite entries. After the contest finished, I completely forgot to seek it out online - in my defense, I was bombarded by many other videos from the same contest being uploaded, so this slipped through my net. In any case, that contest is running again this year and I got reminded that this video exists - so here it is for you all to enjoy!
It’s such a lovely combination of many different games - HiddenWhiteFang has tapped into something magical here, it’s a joy to watch.
